CareTempo Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
This policy describes how BetterRX, LLC (“BetterRX”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in CareTempo, a visit-coordination service that BetterRX provides to home health and hospice agencies. It covers (A) the CareTempo mobile app used by agency clinicians and (B) the CareTempo text messaging program for patients’ caregivers and family contacts. This policy is in addition to (and does not replace) our general Privacy Policy, and should be read alongside the CareTempo Text Messaging Terms of Service.
Part A: CareTempo Mobile App
The CareTempo mobile app is used by nurses and other clinicians employed or contracted by a care agency (“your agency”). Accounts are created by your agency; the app is not available to the general public.
-
Location. CareTempo collects precise location data (GPS) from your device, including in the background when the app is closed or not in use. Location is collected only during a work day you start in the app (“Slide to start”) and stops when you end it (“Slide to end”) or log out; while it is being collected, your device shows a persistent “Recording your visits” notification. We use location to detect when you arrive at and leave each patient visit, so your visit times and timesheet fill themselves in, and to record your route, drive time, and mileage for your agency. Location data is sent only to CareTempo’s servers and made available to your agency. It is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to build advertising profiles. Location access is requested with an in-app explanation before the system prompt, and you may decline it or turn it off in your device settings at any time; the app then works in a manual mode in which arrivals are not detected and no location is recorded. When you tap Navigate, the patient’s address is handed to Apple Maps or Google Maps on your device to provide directions.
-
Account Information. Your name, email address, user ID, and the agency you belong to, provided by your agency when your account is created, are used to sign you in and show you your assigned patients and visits.
-
Visit Notes. Notes you type or dictate about a visit are uploaded to your agency’s CareTempo records. Dictation is transcribed on your device; the voice recording itself is never stored or sent.
-
Device Identifiers. A push notification token and an app-update client ID are sent to Expo (EAS), our service provider for push notifications and app updates, so we can deliver notifications and updates to your device. CareTempo does not use the advertising ID.
-
App Activity and Diagnostics. CareTempo records first-party usage events (for example, dictation duration and route re-ordering) and an access log of which patient, run, or timesheet records you opened and when, as required to protect patient information. If you choose to send a problem report, it includes your app version, operating system, permission settings, and the text you enter. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising software.
-
Sharing. Information collected by the app is shared only with your agency; with service providers acting on our behalf under contract (such as cloud hosting, mapping and routing, and push notification delivery); and with regulatory or law enforcement authorities when required by applicable law. We do not sell your information.
-
Retention. Detailed location history (the GPS trail between visits) is deleted after 30 days, and raw arrival and departure events after 90 days. Visit times, mileage, and notes derived from them are part of your agency’s care and payroll records and are retained as long as your agency requires to meet its legal and regulatory obligations.
-
Security. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The app requires a device passcode or biometric lock and locks after inactivity.
-
Account and Data Deletion. Your CareTempo account belongs to your agency. To request deletion of your account and its associated data, contact your agency administrator or email hello@betterrx.com. Records your agency is legally required to keep (such as visit and timesheet records) may be retained for the period required by law.
Part B: Text Messaging Program
-
Program Description. CareTempo provides a transactional text messaging service that notifies a patient’s designated caregivers and family contacts when a clinician has departed for a scheduled visit. A message takes the form: “{Agency name}: Your clinician is on their way. Reply STOP to opt out.” This program is transactional only. We do not send marketing, promotional, or solicitation messages.
-
Information We Collect. To operate the messaging program we collect: (a) your mobile phone number and name, provided to your care agency when your contact record is created or updated; (b) your messaging preference, including whether you have opted in to text messages and whether you have been marked do-not-contact; (c) message metadata such as send timestamps, delivery status, and carrier-reported events, used to operate the service and audit deliverability; and (d) your opt-out status, kept so we can continue to honor it. The messaging program does not collect message content from your handset, your contact list, your location, or any other information from your mobile device.
-
How We Use Your Information. Mobile phone numbers are used solely to deliver the visit notifications described above and to maintain a record of your messaging preferences. We use carrier-reported delivery information to monitor service health and troubleshoot delivery failures. We do not use your number to build advertising profiles and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to this program.
-
Sharing of Information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers, opt-in records, and consent data collected as part of the SMS program are never sold, rented, or transferred to third parties for their own marketing use. We share information only with: (a) our messaging service provider (currently Twilio), acting as a service provider under contract solely to deliver messages on our behalf; (b) phone carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and others) as required to route and deliver each message; (c) the care agency that designated you as a contact; and (d) regulatory or law enforcement authorities when required by applicable law. These transfers are limited to the minimum information necessary to deliver and audit the service.
-
Consent. Consent to receive transactional text messages is collected by your care agency at the time your contact record is created or updated, and is recorded against that record. A contact marked do-not-contact receives no messages regardless of any prior opt-in. You may withdraw consent at any time using the opt-out instructions below.
-
Opt-Out (STOP). You may opt out of all CareTempo text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT are honored the same way. After we receive your request you will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts from this program. To resume messages, reply START, YES, or UNSTOP. You may also opt out by asking your care agency to remove your number or mark you as do-not-contact.
-
Help (HELP). For help with our messaging program, reply HELP to any message, contact your care agency, or contact BetterRX support at the information below.
-
Message Frequency. Frequency varies based on the patient’s visit schedule. You will receive at most one message per visit, sent only when a clinician departs for that visit. There is no scheduled or recurring marketing cadence.
-
Carrier and Data Disclaimer. Message and data rates may apply. BetterRX is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages caused by your wireless carrier, your device, or factors outside our control. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
-
Eligibility. The CareTempo text messaging program is available only to caregivers and family contacts designated by a patient’s care agency, age 18 or older, with mobile numbers issued by carriers operating in the United States.
-
Data Retention. We retain phone numbers and consent records for as long as your contact record is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with audit, legal, and regulatory obligations. Opt-out records are retained indefinitely so we can continue to honor your preference.
-
Security. Phone numbers are encrypted at rest, transmitted over encrypted connections, and accessible only to authorized staff at your care agency and to BetterRX personnel who need access to operate the service. We apply the same administrative, technical, and physical safeguards described in our general Privacy Policy.
-
Children. The messaging program is not directed to children. We do not knowingly enroll a mobile number belonging to a person under 18, and we will remove such a number if we learn of it.
-
Changes to This Policy. We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, communicated through your care agency.
